Tour Guide Venice Italy

Hello! I’m Lucia Scarpa, born and bred on Murano – the little Venetian island world-famous for its glassmaking.

I adore my city! And it was this deep fondness coupled with a passion for art and languages that naturally led me towards taking a degree to qualify as a Spanish and German guide in Venice.  Since starting my career in 2011, I have delighted in sharing with clients from all over the world my great love of ‘La Serenissima’ and involving them in our great history, culture and age-old traditions, while also giving an insight into the many challenges faced by the Venice of today.

In addition to a range of classic tours of Venice, I offer a walking tour into the deepest parts of the Dorsoduro, San Polo and Santa Croce neighbourhoods (known as ‘sestrieri’ in Venetian)…

…We’ll pass through the labyrinth of little streets and squares taking in such treasures as the Church of the Frari and the Scuola Grande di San Rocco, and visit a ‘squero’ where the iconic boats of Venice – the gondolas – are made and maintained.

Once at the Rialto market, we’ll jump aboard a ‘traghetto’ gondola ferry to cross the Grand Canal and visit the workshop of a talented local craftsman who creates the wooden oars and oarlocks seen on Venetian boats.

And we’ll end the tour – for those who are up for it (!) – by taking a lesson in the art of Venetian rowing (standing up style!), giving you the chance to see Venice from the water – a fascinating, fun and totally unique experience!
